This page explains what cookies are, which ones StockTicker.net uses, why we use them, and how you can manage or refuse them. It is a companion to the Privacy Policy.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website places on your device so that information can be remembered between page loads or visits — for example, a session identifier or a preference. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixel tags, and SDK identifiers; for the purposes of this page we treat them all as "cookies".
Categories of cookies in use
Strictly necessary. Required for the site to load and function. These keep things like the loading-screen state, the search input, and basic page navigation working. The site cannot function without them and they are not used for tracking.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics (gtag.js, measurement ID G-WMC4GZ22YY) to count visits, see which pages and tickers are popular, and detect errors. Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_*. Aggregate, non-identifying reports are what we look at — not individual user profiles.
Advertising. If and when Google AdSense ads are served on this site, Google and its advertising partners (including third-party vendors) may set cookies on your device to serve ads, measure ad performance, and — where you have consented — personalise ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Common AdSense cookies include those associated with Google's advertising domains (for example __gads, __gpi, and DoubleClick / IDE).
Embedded third-party widgets. Charts, technical analysis, news, and related-stocks panels on this site are embedded from TradingView. When those widgets load, TradingView and its sub-processors may set their own cookies. Their use is governed by TradingView's privacy and cookie policies.
Why we use them
- To keep the site working as you navigate between pages.
- To measure which content readers actually find useful, so we know where to invest time.
- To allow ad-supported access to remain free, by displaying advertising provided by Google AdSense and its partners.
- To embed third-party market-data widgets that provide the charts, news, and statistics shown on the home page.
Your choices
Browser controls. Every modern browser lets you view, block, or delete cookies. Look for "Privacy", "Cookies", or "Site data" in your browser's settings. You can usually choose to block third-party cookies entirely, which will limit advertising and most analytics cookies without breaking the site.
Google Ad Settings. You can review what Google believes about your interests and turn off ad personalisation across Google services and AdSense partner sites at adssettings.google.com. Even with personalisation off, ads may still appear, but they will be less tailored.
YourOnlineChoices / NAI / DAA. Industry opt-out tools cover many third-party advertising vendors at once:
- Europe: youronlinechoices.com
- United States: optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org
- Canada: youradchoices.ca
Google Analytics opt-out. If you would like to opt out of Google Analytics specifically, Google offers a browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
"Do Not Track". Where your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we limit data collection to what is necessary for the site to function.
Cookies and EU/UK visitors
If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region that requires prior consent for non-essential cookies, advertising and analytics cookies will only be set after you provide consent through the consent prompt presented on the site. You can change your choices at any time by clearing site data in your browser and reloading the page.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as the cookies we use, or the rules around them, change. Material updates will be reflected by a revised "Last reviewed on" date at the top of the page.
