This page explains what cookies are, which ones StockTicker.net uses, why we use them, and how you can manage or refuse them. It is a companion to the Privacy Policy.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file a website places on your device so that information can be remembered between page loads or visits — for example, a session identifier or a preference. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixel tags, and SDK identifiers; for the purposes of this page we treat them all as "cookies".
Categories of cookies in use
Strictly necessary. StockTicker.net itself does not set any first-party cookies to make the site work: search, navigation and the ticker view run entirely in your browser without them.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics (gtag.js, measurement ID G-WMC4GZ22YY) to count visits, see which pages and tickers are popular, and detect errors. Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_*. Aggregate, non-identifying reports are what we look at — not individual user profiles.
Advertising. None. The site does not currently show advertising or load any ad-network scripts, so no advertising cookies are set by StockTicker.net. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated first.
Embedded third-party widgets. Charts, quotes, fundamentals, technical analysis, news, and heatmap panels on this site are embedded from TradingView. When those widgets load, TradingView and its sub-processors may set their own cookies. Their use is governed by TradingView's privacy and cookie policies.
Why we use them
- To keep the site working as you navigate between pages.
- To measure which content readers actually find useful, so we know where to invest time.
- To embed third-party market-data widgets that provide the charts, news, and statistics shown on the home page.
Your choices
Browser controls. Every modern browser lets you view, block, or delete cookies. Look for "Privacy", "Cookies", or "Site data" in your browser's settings. Blocking third-party cookies limits what the embedded TradingView widgets can store; blocking cookies for this site prevents Google Analytics cookies. Neither breaks the guides, although some widgets may then load with default settings.
Google Analytics opt-out. If you would like to opt out of Google Analytics specifically, Google offers a browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
"Do Not Track". The site does not currently change its behaviour in response to a Do Not Track signal. Use the browser controls or the Google Analytics opt-out above instead.
Cookies and EU/UK visitors
If you are visiting from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region that requires prior consent for non-essential cookies, please note that the site does not currently show a cookie-consent prompt: Google Analytics loads when a page is opened. If you do not want analytics cookies, block cookies for stockticker.net in your browser or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and clear any existing site data.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as the cookies we use, or the rules around them, change. Material updates will be reflected by a revised "Last reviewed on" date at the top of the page.
